If the morning bird sings, write about it.
I've been singing since I could speak, but I started writing my own songs when I was around 9 or 10. I had begun writing poems at an early age thanks to my mama's influence, and I often thought in rhymes. Because as a child I loved to create, no matter the medium, I also played around with melodies and song concepts all the time. When middle school hit, I couldn't hold back anymore and started writing songs with my cousins and my brother. We'd each write a verse, then merge them together. It was elementary but it was a great startI doodled on piano in my early childhood, but it wasn't until I was in high school that I picked it up again when my friend suggested I cover Lady Gaga's 'Speechless' for her dance performance. Another piano first was 'Autumn Leaves' by Paolo Nutini, my musical father drumming the chords over my shoulder as I tried to copy. I quickly moved on to writing my own tunes, and thus the connection was officially made. I became an artist.
